Biofutures have completed a 199kW wood chip heating system linked to a 5000 litre buffer cylinder running on a single-phase electrical supply for the wood produce Hormann firewood. The boiler, wood chip storage and buffer are located in some farm outbuildings with wood chip being processed on site and deposited into the wood chip silo by tractor front end bucket.

The installation is registered with OFGEM under the commercial RHI scheme and is providing heating that is used to dry logs and wood chips that the business supplies locally. Using such a system will be significantly cheaper to operate and will be generating significant payments (£200k+) through the RHI over the next 20 years.
